Pakistani fast bowler Ali Raza has now become the youngest Pakistani cricketer to take a hat-trick in the history of Pakistan Super League.
The Pakistan Super League has featured a number of big names with the ball, and several have made it into the national team in recent times. However, the player who has entered the PSL with immense anticipation is Pakistani youngster Ali Raza.
Raza came into limelight due to his performance in the U19 World Cup and his infamous altercation with Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. While Suryavanshi has been making waves in the IPL, Raza is a promising talent in the PSL.
Ali Raza shocked Karachi Kings by taking a hat-trick
Just 18 years old Pakistani fast bowler has surprised the country with his brilliant performance. He took a hat-trick and became the youngest player to reach this feat. He has been holding the record continuously since the ICC U19 World Cup in 2026.
While bowling to Karachi finisher Khushdil Shah, he got him out hit wicket and then completed his first hat-trick by taking the wickets of S Aziz and Hasan Ali. Raza was Peshawar Zalmi’s best wicket-taker in the game with four wickets.
He dismissed the great Australian batsman and Karachi Kings captain David Warner, his first success in the game.
‘Hit Wicket’ out on the ball of Khushdil Shah Ali Raza
Batting first, England opener Jason Roy made his comeback in the Pakistan Super League and played a brilliant inning at the top of the innings. However, what happened to Ali Raza at the end of the innings was a rare example.
Pakistani left-handed batsman Khushdil Shah backed himself to hit a four off Ali Raza. Pakistan’s youth was bowling at a fast pace and Khushdil tried to lift the ball high by going on the back foot. After hitting the ball, he cut the bails with his backfoot.
After confirming this from the third umpire, the umpires dismissed him and declared him hit wicket out. After this two more fast balls came and they uprooted the stumps of Shahid Aziz and Hasan Ali.
Peshawar Zalmi extend their undefeated streak in PSL
Peshawar Zalmi have been performing brilliantly under the leadership of captain Babar Azam, who has also been scoring a lot of runs in the contest. Zalmi have won 8 of their nine matches in this season of the competition.
After Jason Roy’s half-century and Azam Khan’s quickfire 35-run innings, Karachi Kings could set the target of 182 runs in 20 overs. In return, Zalmani opened with Babar Azam and James Vince.
However, Kusal Mendis was once again the star of their chase as he contributed an unbeaten 80 and formed a brilliant partnership with Farhan Yousuf, who scored 58 off just 36 balls.
Kusal Mendis scored 493 runs in 8 matches and his average was 70.43, while his captain Babar scored 426 runs in the same number of matches. Sufiyan Muqeem is also the leading wicket-taker with 18 wickets in eight matches.
