Things have turned sour between Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) issue is now getting bigger day by day.
The controversy started when Blessing Muzarabani decided not to feature for Islamabad United in the ongoing PSL 2026 and instead joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the ongoing IPL 2026 in India.
Blessing Muzarabani banned for two years after PSL exit drama
This move did not go down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board, as Muzarabani was banned from the Pakistan Super League for two years. This means that he will not be able to play in the PSL until 2029, which is a big blow for the Zimbabwean fast bowler.
Actually, Muzarabani was selected by Islamabad United as a replacement for West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph. However, before the start of PSL 2026, Muzarabani decided to opt out. He got an offer from KKR in IPL and decided to go there.

This call forced the PCB to take action. The board felt that once a player agrees to play in the Pakistan Super League, he must remain committed. They believe that such actions can affect the league system and cause problems in the future, and that is why they banned him for two years.
Blessing Muzarabani demands PCB to lift PSL ban
Now, Blessing Muzarabani’s agent has criticized the PCB for not handling the matter properly. He revealed that Islamabad United had announced the signing of the player, but no official contract had been signed between the two parties at that time.
He also revealed that even when KKR approached Muzarabani, no proper agreement had been reached with Islamabad United. Because of this, the Zimbabwean fast bowler felt that he was free to choose another opportunity and that’s how he moved into IPL 2026.
The agents are now asking the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Pakistan Super League to lift the ban, as without knowledge of the full situation they believe the punishment is too harsh.

- On 13 February 2026, Blessing Muzarabani was contacted by Islamabad United for PSL 2026.
- Both parties agreed in principle, but it was dependent on receiving an NOC from Zimbabwe Cricket.
- NOC can be granted only after the appropriate contract is signed, but no contract was awarded at that time.
- Despite no paperwork being completed, Islamabad United and the PSL announced his signing on social media.
- As of 27 February 2026, Muzarabani had still not received any official contract from the PSL or the team.
- Around the same time, Kolkata Knight Riders offered him a deal.
- Since there was no signed contract with the PSL, he accepted the IPL offer and joined KKR.
- They were also not selected in the PSL auction and had no formal agreement with the league.
- His side is clearly saying that there is no need to break anything without a contract.

In a mail sent to the PCB, the agent wrote, “We have remained silent publicly for the last 6 weeks as we did not want to create or create any more animosity for the Pakistan Super League/Pakistan Cricket Board that we have already created for ourselves. However, due to the overwhelming and hateful nature of the criticism directed at Blessing through social media, I will no longer remain silent.

The statement read, “We feel that any ban on participation in the PSL is incredibly excessive and is not commensurate with the punishment given to players who have actually breached contracts in the past. I have never seen a player so publicly scolded and criticized for doing nothing wrong. We urge the PSL to withdraw the ban and accept this position, this is an administrative error on their part, nothing more. We have no interest in PSL/Islamabad United. No complaints.”
